Choosing the right gloves in relation to the use that follows is really very important as they facilitate us in our work and protect our epidermis from exposure to chemical agents. Here is a mini guide that will help you choose the one that's right for you.

Disposable or commonly called disposable gloves are divided into the following types, depending on the material with which they are made:

  • disposable latex gloves recommended for work in the medical sector and cleaning companies;
  • disposable nitrile gloves recommended in the food industry, chemical industry, mechanical workshops and body shops;
  • disposable polyethylene gloves ideal in the cosmetic, fruit and vegetable and medical sectors;
  • disposable vinyl gloves ideal for cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, graphic arts;
  • gloves in cowhide recommended for the industrial and mechanical sector;
  • gloves for the protection of liquids;
  • mechanical protection gloves.

A glove is defined disposable, that is "disposable", when it is of reduced thickness, usually just above the wrist, but there are also 29 / 30cm long. Normally they are chosen adherent, so that they remain firm on the hand during use. They can be internally equipped with starch powder which allows them to be easily wrapped, or chemically treated (chlorinated) or coated with other flowing substance. Externally they can have an almost totally smooth surface; they can also have a knurling under the fingers to allow a better non-slip grip. The weight of a glove determines its mechanical strength, therefore it is certainly a figure to be reckoned with.

Latex gloves

Latex gloves are usually thin, elastic and close-fitting to ensure comfortable use. They are often used as medical devices because they are an excellent protection against contamination and infections, but also from most substances contained in detergents, including alcohol. Latex gloves are commonly used by doctors and dentists, but also by all those who work in aesthetics. To allow a quicker and easier fit, the glove is internally sprinkled with cornstarch. Latex gloves are made with rubber latex, a material of natural origin (rubber tree), so they are also environmentally friendly as they are biodegradable.

Unfortunately there are many individuals allergic to latex and consequently the use of latex gloves is absolutely not recommended as it could cause allergies and dermatitis, for this reason disposable gloves are also made in other non-allergenic materials such as nitrile, vinyl and polyethylene.

Nitrile gloves

Nitrile gloves ((AcriloNitrile and Butadine) are born as an alternative for all those who are allergic to latex and are also ultra-resistant. Always very comfortable and ergonomic, they acquire added value due to their natural resistance to punctures. food and mechanical.

Vinyl gloves

Vinyl gloves are produced with synthetic raw materials (mainly PVC –Poly Vinyl Chloride and DINP Phthalates - plasticisers that make the plastic soft and malleable). As products without the use of natural materials (free of natural proteins), they are a valid alternative for all those who are allergic to latex. Their level of safety and resistance is certainly given by the thickness of the glove itself. Unlike latex gloves that are biodegradable, vinyl gloves must be disposed of properly, as being made of PVC, if it is disposed of incorrectly it produces dioxin.

Polyethylene gloves

Polyethylene gloves are really practical and consequently its uses are many. They conform to food contact, ideal for medical / ambulatory use but also useful in the field of beauty treatments. They protect the skin, guarantee hygiene and maintain a great tactile sensitivity.
